Welcome to my academic website. I am a PhD researcher in the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee under the supervision of Prof. B. V. V. S. Pavan Kumar. My research focuses on active soft matter and out-of-equilibrium systems, specifically designing cell-like microreactors that exhibit life-like traits such as self-propulsion, chemomechanical oscillations, chemical communication, and collective behaviour. I study stimuli-responsive, membrane-enclosed enzyme-loaded microcompartments that produce autonomous motion through buoyancy-driven movement and reaction-induced endogenous fluid flows, leading to emergent collective behavior in synthetic systems. My work seeks to advance fundamental understanding of chemically driven motility and the collective dynamics of artificial microcompartment, providing direction for applications in areas such as smart materials, soft robotics, and environmental remediation. Recent publications include work on self-organization of microgel compartments (J.Am.Chem.Soc. 2025), self-oscillatory microgel motility in stratified chemical media (Adv. Mater. 2025), and a review on chemical communication in artificial cells (Front. Mol. Biosci. 2022). Please explore the YouTube videos to learn more about my research projects, publications, and other activities.
